Measure to replace cabin air filter 9 steps
1
Inspect the area in front of the passenger-side windshield for the cabin air filter housing first. There are two general locations of the cabin air filter, inside of the vent in front of the passenger-side windshield and behind the glove box.
2
Look below the passenger-side windshield and you will see a rectangular cover with either four or six screws. Loosen and remove the small screws with a screwdriver and pull the cover off the cabin air filter housing.
3
Reach inside of the vent and pull the cabin air filter out of the housing. Clean out the inside area of the cabin air filter housing. Remove any leaves or loose debris.
4
Install the new filter into the vent inside of the cabin air filter housing. Reinstall the cover along with the screws. Tighten the screws with the screwdriver.

5
Open the glove box and remove all of the contents. Loosen and remove all the mounting screws or bolts from the facing of the glove box and from the lower right-hand side of the glove box with a screwdriver or a small ratchet and a socket.
6
Locate the glove box stops on the lower section of the glove box. The stops hold the glove box door inside of the door inserts. Grab each end of the lower section of the glove box and pull away from the stops until they are completely out of the inserts.
7
Remove the bolts from the cables or the linkages on both sides of the glove box. The cables or linkages keep the glove box from falling out of the dash. Once the bolts are out, pull the entire glove box assembly out of the dash. Place it on the driver seat. Remove the small bolts from each end of the metal cross member that is behind the glove box door opening with a small ratchet and a socket.
8
Pull the cross member out of the glove box area and place it on the seat. In some make and model vehicles, there will be a wiring harness behind the glove box door opening. Unhook the wiring harness so that you may be able to pull the cabin air filter out through the opening. Look through the glove box opening and locate the square box mounted to the lower part of the dash. This will be the cabin air filter housing.
9
Pull the access door open on the front of the square box and remove the cabin air filter. Make a mental note of the direction of the flow arrow that is stamped to the cabin air filter. The flow arrow represents the air flow through the filter. If there is more than one filter, remove both filters. Insert the new cabin air filters into the box with the flow arrow pointing in the same direction as the old filters. Close the door. Reassemble the glove box back into the glove box opening and tighten all of the screws and bolts down tight with the screwdriver and the ratchet and socket.
