What’s the difference between EDM machines and conventional machines?
*One of the advantages of EDM over traditional parts manufacture is that complex shapes are comparatively easier to create. EDMs can be used to machine a wide variety of materials with closer tolerances than conventional machining. Very small delicate pieces can be created without damage due to cutting pressure, and aforementioned cost-effectiveness of small volumes.
*It is often used to cut hard metals, even pre-hardened steel, and materials are usually electrically conductive.
*With an EDM, complex shapes can be cut that are not possible with many other types of cutting equipment. EDMs also can be used readily on very hard materials. The workpieces they use tend to be quite small and easier to use and maintain. With this type of cutting machine, the actual cutting tool and the workpiece never come into direct contact.
Material like WPS which are used for die/mold making are machined with EDM with greater accuracy and without burrs. EDM Filters exporters
